Senior Software Engineer/Architect for Global Public Health

We’re looking for a senior software engineer to help us build and maintain our suite of country-scale systems for distributed, occasionally-connected health supply chains.

We have developed a maintain a pragmatic, respectful and supportive engineering culture, and are looking for teammates who value this. We are also looking for engineers who want to dive into the domain and context as much as the code, and who have a strong sense for reusable, maintainable software architecture.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team you will help investigate user needs and design solutions for national-scale public health programs alongside our other technology and subject-matter experts.

As a senior engineer and architect you'll also help build to identify, implement and champion software design patterns and platform-level features to address the unique challenges of data-driven, offline-capable enterprise systems.

You will work closely with other developers in Europe and Nigeria, supporting each other and collaborating through frequent code reviews and strong adherence to best practices, as we develop tools to shape health supply chains at scale in some of the fastest growing places in the world.

Required

  • 8+ years professional experience architecting, building and maintaining production information management systems
  • Professional experience architecting software to address complex business needs (supply chain or similarly data-dense field)
  • 8+ years professional experience with client- and server-side Javascript, and both relational and document-oriented databases (Postgres, CouchDB, AWS, React ideally)
  • Excellent human communication skills and experience working in cross-cultural settings
  • A deep curiosity about information architecture, design patterns, and critical evaluation of new technologies
  • Experience with serverless and event-driven application architectures
  • Degree in computer science, or comparable work experience
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to think about solutions in an holistic way

Location: Remote (travel encouraged but not required) Language skills: English (fluent) Position: 12 month contract Salary range: EUR75-100k
