Infrastructure & Data Engineer

We’re looking for someone with a love of application and infrastructure to work with us on the logistics and program analytics services which we provide to public and private health supply chains across Africa. You’ll help design, build and maintain the modern, largely serverless infrastructure and data and deployment pipelines, which deploy, serve and monitor our platform as it supports hundreds of millions of health interventions each year.

You will work closely with our development teams in Nigeria Kenya and Europe, supporting them with deployment and hosting infrastructure, designing solutions to challenges of scale, security and reliability.

This is a full time position based in or around Berlin, Nairobi or Abuja. We primarily work remotely but find it useful to be able to meet up from time to time. Part-time work possible.

Note all permanent positions at Field come with enrollment in our ESOP. Salary range EUR80-110k.

Required

• 5+ years experience working in a DevOps, site reliability engineering, or related role, on live production systems in a team setting
• 5+ years experience working in software engineering, ideally with javascript-based tech stacks

• Professional experience:

  • Working with AWS (esp. CDK, Lambda, ECS)
  • Maintaining and scaling database infrastructure (Postgres, Apache CouchDB a plus)
  • Designing and building data pipelines and required tooling
  • Maintaining CI / CD pipelines (esp. CircleCI)
  • Working with Linux shells and Docker in production environments
  • Configuring Javascript build systems (esp. esbuild, NPM)
  • Self hosted LLMs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High degree of personal initiative and organisation
• Language skills: English (fluent)
