With offices in Nigeria, Kenya, and Germany and a growing presence across Rwanda and Senegal, we work with public and private health systems to strengthen pharmaceutical supply chains and improve the availability, management, and delivery of essential medicines and health products.\nWe are looking for an exceptional leader to take our supply chain network through its next phase, strengthening what we have built while helping us prepare for greater scale and complexity in the years ahead.\n\nThe National Supply Chain Lead is accountable for one thing above all others: that Nigerian customers get the right product, in good condition, when we said they would, at a cost that lets us keep doing it. \nEvery function required to deliver on this outcome sits within the scope of this role. You will not be running a warehouse or negotiating with a supplier yourself; you will have capable leads implementing. \nYour job is to make the whole thing work as one system: to set the plan the functions execute against, to arbitrate between them when their goals conflict, to see the failure coming before it reaches a customer, and to own the outcome when it does anyway.\n\nThis is a role for someone who has been an operator and has since learned to lead operators."},"body":{"childMarkdownRemark":{"html":"
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
\n
Service and Availability
\n
\n
Own order fill rate and on-time delivery as the primary measures of the function's performance, and the operating decisions that drive them.
\n
Own national inventory strategy: stocking policy, safety stock, replenishment logic, and allocation when supply is short.
\n
Own the monthly sales and operations planning cycle with Commercial, Finance and Regulatory. This is the mechanism through which demand, supply, launches and cash meet. You run it.
\n
\n
Distribution Network Operations
\n
\n
Own day-to-day performance of the distribution centre network: receiving, put-away, picking, packing, dispatch accuracy, cycle counting, and expiry-risk management, for both ambient and cold chain.
\n
Plan capacity, staffing, layout and security ahead of volume rather than behind it.
\n
Lead readiness and mobilisation for new facilities as the network grows.
\n
\n
Cold Chain
\n
\n
Own cold chain capability end-to-end in execution: equipment sourcing and maintenance, pack-out design and validation, route planning, and training of operators and Fulfilment Partners.
\n
Drive excursion rates down and cut the time between detection and resolution.
\n
\n
Inbound Supply, Importation and Customs
\n
\n
Own the end-to-end inbound flow, from order placement to receipt into the network, across two distinct models: bilateral relationships with manufacturer principals, and consolidated supply through our global partners in Europe.
\n
Own the customs and clearing operation: agent performance, documentation accuracy, Form M and PAAR processing, NAFDAC import permits, duty classification, and release timelines.
\n
Own the controllable landed cost lines: freight rates, demurrage and port charges, clearing cycle time, and classification accuracy.
\n
Manage inbound risk actively — adjust local replenishment around delays and disruptions rather than reporting them after the fact.
\n
\n
Procurement
\n
\n
The Procurement team reports to you. You own the buying plan they execute against: what we buy, when, in what quantity, against what forecast and what working capital envelope.
\n
Set the standards for supplier performance management, price review cadence and benchmarking, and hold the team to them.
\n
Commercial terms with strategic principals, and decisions on speculative or investment buying, are made jointly with Commercial and Finance. You bring the demand and working capital case; you do not decide alone.
\n
Support new product introduction: launch stock sizing with no demand history, first-order phasing against registration approval timing, and the supply readiness gate for every launch.
\n
\n
Cost and Working Capital
\n
\n
Own the supply chain cost base: budget, monthly tracking, and variance explanation.
\n
Lead cost-productivity work across warehousing, logistics and procurement, measured against volume rather than in absolute terms.
\n
Own inventory as a working capital position, not only as stock: days inventory outstanding, expiry write-offs, and the trade-off between availability and cash.
\n
\n
Logistics and Fulfilment Partners
\n
\n
Own the third-party logistics and fulfilment partner network: selection, contracting, SLAs, performance management and offboarding.
\n
Own delivery performance against zone-based lead time policy, and keep the regulatory compliance log current.
\n
Build redundancy deliberately. No high-volume lane or critical partner should be a single point of failure, and you should be able to demonstrate the backup works.
\n
\n
Quality Execution
\n
Quality authority sits with the Pharmacy Director. Your accountability is that the operation meets the standard they set.
\n
\n
Implement the quality system in the operation, and be measured on compliance rather than on self-assessment.
\n
Own operational work instructions, submitted for Pharmacy Director approval wherever they touch Good Distribution Practice.
\n
Detect, contain, report and fix the root cause of deviations and excursions. Execute recalls. Own closure of audit findings in your areas.
\n
Host NAFDAC, PCN and manufacturer-principal audits alongside the Pharmacy Director.
\n
\n
Systems and Data
\n
\n
Partner with the technology team on the warehouse and order management systems: reliability, KPI activation, and new capability including proof-of-delivery and real-time tracking.
\n
Use operational data for root-cause analysis, inventory health and demand forecasting.
\n
Move manual reporting toward automation.
\n
Contribute operational and business-rule input to the SOP harmonisation working group.
\n
\n
People
\n
\n
Lead a multi-function team through its functional leads. Set expectations, run performance, build capability, and develop successors.
\n
Lead the team that manages Field’s Fulfilment Partner network: roughly 100 agents nationwide whom we train and manage to deliver on our behalf, count consignment stock, execute recalls, handle client care and respond on demand.
\n
Own their recruitment, training, standards, performance and retention.
\n
Build the staffing and training models that let the network scale without a proportional increase in cost.
\n
\n
Network Growth
\n
\n
Lead supply chain planning for new facilities, including free-trade-zone and bonded operations, working with the project team leading the standup.
\n
Contribute supply chain input to cross-border expansion and market entry planning.
\n
\n
What Success Looks Like
\n
By 90 Days
\n
You know the network: the facilities, the leads, the partners, the clearing agents, the failure points. Your first formal deliverable is your own written assessment of it. Where performance actually sits against what we believe it to be, where our measures are wrong or missing, what you would change first and in what order. We expect it to tell us something we did not already know.
\n
By Six Months
\n
The operating rhythm is running under you rather than through you. S&OP is a real decision-making forum. You have taken a visible cost or service problem and fixed it.
\n
By Twelve Months
\n
Service and cost are both measurably better than the baseline you inherited, the new-product launch pipeline is landing on schedule, and the network is materially readier for expansion than it is today.
\n
Who We Are Looking For
\n
Required
\n
\n
10+ years in supply chain, logistics or distribution operations, with at least 4 years leading a multi-function team through functional managers.
\n
Distribution centre operations at national scale, including temperature-controlled product.
\n
Direct experience with Nigerian importation and customs: Form M, PAAR, SONCAP, NAFDAC import permits, clearing agent and freight forwarder management.
\n
Working knowledge of Good Distribution Practice and the Nigerian regulatory environment (NAFDAC, PCN).
\n
Fluency with WMS and order management systems, and with data tools sufficient to diagnose a problem rather than only report it.
\n
A track record of accountability for outcomes delivered through other people's teams.
\n
\n
Strong Advantage
\n
\n
Pharmaceutical, healthcare or another regulated sector.
\n
Free-trade-zone or bonded warehouse operations (NEPZA or OGFZA).
\n
New product introduction and launch supply planning.
\n
Multi-market or cross-border operations, particularly delivering results in markets where you had accountability without line authority.
\n
Professional certification (CIPS, APICS/CSCP).
\n
\n
How You Work
\n
\n
You go and look. You are in the DC and on the route, not only in the report.
\n
You escalate early and with a recommendation attached.
\n
You are comfortable being told no by the Pharmacy Director and finding another way to yes.
\n
You are building something rather than maintaining it. This network will be substantially larger and more complex in three years than it is today, and we want the person who wants that problem.
\n
\n
Additional Information
\n
\n
Compensation is competitive and benchmarked to the scope of the role.
\n
\n
Field is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from qualified individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
"}},"formLink":null}},"pageContext":{"slug":"national-supply-chain-lead-nigeria"}},"staticQueryHashes":[]}
